Very serious accusations against Greek PM Mitsotakis and his government

Greece has been shocked by the revelation that the deaths of at least 57 people in the Tempi rail tragedy two years ago were caused not only by the collision of two trains, but also by the fact that one of them was probably carrying smuggled flammable substances used to adulterate fuel.

The Greek government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis has so far claimed that this was a figment of the opposition’s imagination. Now, however, investigations seem to confirm that this is exactly what happened.

Zoe Konstantopoulou, leader of the ‘Pleusi Eleutherias’ [Sailing to Freedom] party and former speaker of parliament, accused Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis of possible personal involvement in the criminal activities, saying that only this could explain the massive government’s attempt to cover up the case.

Some media outlets speak also of “mafia” phenomena and of suspect deaths and disappearances of persons related to this affair.
