The war in Ukraine can only be properly understood by those who understand the role of Ukrainian fascism in the past and present. Therefore, the daily newspaper junge Welt (jW) will organise a one-day conference with international experts from the USA, among others, on Sunday, 29 October 2023, in the ND Building in Berlin. Tickets for the conference are already sold out, but it can also be followed free of charge via livestream on www.jungewelt.de in German and English. Various websites and internet portals in the USA, Canada and other countries have already announced that they will take over the jW stream.
At the conference, independent researchers will trace and retrace the trail of blood that the Organisation of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) and its allies have left through history and the present. It will also look at networks of fascists and their powerful lobby in parties, think tanks and the military in Ukraine and the Western world.
The publicist Moss Robeson from New York will give a lecture entitled »Trident, Swastika, Eagle« on OUN members as Nazi collaborators in the mass murder of Jews and the war of extermination, as well as on the historical origins of the Bandera lobby in the USA, and in another lecture will focus on the influence of the Banderists on the Ukraine conflict that has been raging since 2014. Russ Bellant, author from Detroit, whose book »Old Nazis, the New Right, and the Republican Party« caused a furore with embarrassing revelations during George Bush’s presidential campaign in 1988, will shed light on historical continuities and recall the role of the Banderists in the Cold War against the USSR. Jürgen Lloyd from the Marx Engels Foundation will analyse the function of fascism for monopoly capital in the current Ukraine war and the failure of German anti-fascism.
In a concluding roundtable discussion, jW editor-in-chief Stefan Huth will discuss the question »Ukrainian Fascists and the Bandera Lobby – Rabble-rousers for the Third World War?« with the publicists Oleg Yassinsky (Pressenza, Telesur), Jörg Kronauer (German Foreign Policy, jW), Arnold Schölzel (jW, Rotfuchs) and Russ Bellant. The panel will also deal with historical revisionism associated with the increasing influence of the right, the synchronisation of the media and public opinion, and other dangerous concomitants.
