Zakharova: European leaders themselves pushed the EU into an energy crisis

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said on the air of the TVC channel that European leaders themselves pushed the EU into an energy crisis.

“They pushed Europe, in particular the European Union, to a global energy collapse,” TASS quoted her as saying.

According to her, now the heads of European countries have only to convince their citizens that “this is not just good, it’s not just right, it’s in their own interests.”

She stressed that European politicians have “done a good job” in the energy sector, in particular in the history of the terrorist attacks on the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 pipelines.

“We are talking about the Baltic Sea, the area that is controlled by NATO countries … this is their area of responsibility,” Zakharova recalled.

Earlier, European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson said that the EU managed to completely replace the retired Russian fuel with the help of energy resources from other sources.
