The Metropolitan Community Clinic Elliniko is in urgent need of milk for babies and infants as well as of diapers. ” Unfortunately we are in difficult position to ask for your help for one more time, the Metropolitan Clinic writes in a statement issued on Sunday, September 16th 2018.
The clinic stock has dramatically decreased due to the summer holidays, “so that we cannot cope with the immediate needs of our fellow citizens,” the statement said.
The needs are:
- Baby milk for 1. and 2. age group
- Diapers.
Every month the Metropolitan Community Clinic at Elliniko helps about 100 to 150 infants and children up to3 years old.
The clinic operates, with the help and support of the Elliniko-Argyroupoli Municipality, since December 2011 when the Greek economic crisis broke out and thousands were left without job and social security.
So far, 60,000 people from the broader Athens and Attica region and even the countryside have sought the medical help of the clinic.
200 volunteers among them doctors offer their services on a non-profit basis.
The Metropolitan Community Clinic does not accept money donations, just goods and services the clinic offers free of charge to citizens in need.
People seeking the help of the Clinic come form the most vulnerable groups of the society. They are unemployed, uninsured and/or low-income pensioners.
