Ukraine, projects with US: Putin’s statements after meeting on rare earths

NOVO-OGARYOVO, February 25. /TASS/. Russia is ready to consider major economic projects with the United States, including within the framework of the Ukrainian settlement, President Vladimir Putin told VGTRK reporter Pavel Zarubin following a meeting on the development of the rare earths industry.

The head of state called the position of his US counterpart Donald Trump regarding the current authorities in Kiev rational and expressed the opinion that elections in Ukraine would help preserve its statehood.

Russia is one of the world’s leaders in rare earth metal reserves

NOVO-OGARYOVO, February 25. /TASS/. Russia is one of the world’s undisputed leaders in rare earth metal reserves, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in conversation with VGTRK journalist Pavel Zarubin.

“Russia is one of the undisputed leaders in these rare earth metal reserves. We have them in the north, in Murmansk, and in the Caucasus, in Kabardino-Balkaria, and in the Far East, in the Irkutsk region, in Yakutia and Tyva [republics],” Putin said.

The head of state added that Russia would be happy to work with any foreign partners in the rare earth metals industry, including the Americans.

US-Ukraine agreement on rare earth metals does not concern Russia

NOVO-OGARYOVO, February 25. /TASS/. The US-Ukraine agreement on rare earth metals and other resources does not concern Russia in any way, Russian President Vladimir Putin said answering a question from VGTRK journalist Pavel Zarubin.

“This does not concern us. I am not weighting up this issue in any way and do not even want to think about it,” Putin said.

However, Putin believes that before concluding an agreement between Kiev and Washington on rare earth metals, it is necessary to first assess the resources.

RDIF CEO Dmitriev appointed Putin’s envoy for economic cooperation

MOSCOW, February 23. /TASS/. CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) Kirill Dmitriev has been appointed Russian presidential envoy for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries.

According to the relevant presidential decree that was posted on the Russian president’s official website, Dmitriev will retain his position as RDIF CEO.

In his new capacity, Dmitriev will continue developing economic cooperation with both countries of the global South and Western states, including the United States, the RDIF press service said.
