Cyprus agrees to buy Russian-made COVID-19 vaccine

Mar. 17, 2021

Government spokesman Kyriakos Kousios said that a deal has been made for Cyprus to acquire the Russian-made Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine.

“It will be a bilateral agreement, this decision was approved a fortnight ago,” said Kousios, as reported by SigmaLive.

The two countries reached an agreement for 50,000 doses.

However, as ERT reported, Cyprus is expected to make use of the vaccine when it receives approval from the European Medicines Agency (EMA).

The vaccine has an effectiveness of 92%.
