HAVANA, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) — Cuba on Monday described U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson’s ongoing five-nation tour as seeking a return to the Monroe Doctrine of U.S. supremacy over Latin America.
In a strongly worded statement published in state daily Granma, Cuba’s Foreign Ministry warned of “the seriousness of the message of arrogance and contempt with which the Secretary of State of the United States began a tour of several countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.”
Tillerson’s Feb.1-7 trip covers Mexico, Argentina, Peru, Colombia and Jamaica.
