Mainstream Media Faults Trump for Not Following Through on Iran Attack

Posted on Mainstream media outlets were of a lot of different minds on the Iran question earlier this week, counseling different approaches for US-Iran tensions. Friday, those outlets were broadly united, upset by the lack of a new war they thought sure was coming.
To be sure, Thursday was meant to be the start of the US-Iran War which hawks have been trying to piece together for generations. Trump ordered the attack, but ultimately, called it off a mere 10 minutes from a strike.

Trump Told Iran of Imminent Attack, Then Offered Talks

Posted on Having signed off on an attack against Iran early Thursday, President Trump didn’t just tell the military and diplomats that he was on board. Trump also sent a message to the Iranian government, by way of Oman, telling them that the attack was imminent.
Trump’s forwarded message not only informed Iran of the planned US attack, but also offered talks with Iran “about various issues.” They gave a very brief period awaiting an Iranian response.

Iran’s Air Defense Refrained From Blowing Up US Plane With 35 on Board

Posted on Iran shot down a US surveillance drone on Wednesday, but despite some suggestions from hawks, the nation isn’t firing at everything that moves. Indeed, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard’s air defense forces pointed out another encroachment into their airspace to which they did not react.
An American Boeing P-8 airplane with 35 people on board entered Iranian airspace. Aerospace Force head Amir Ali Hajzadeh says Iran could have shot the plane down, but chose not to.

Firing even one bullet at Iran will ‘set fire’ to US & allies, Iranian general warns

Washington and its allies will pay dearly for any act of aggression against Tehran, an Iranian general has said, vowing to retaliate with overwhelming force if the US dares to fire even “one bullet” at the Islamic Republic.
“Firing one bullet towards Iran will set fire to the interests of America and its allies” in the Middle East, armed forces general staff spokesman Brigadier General Abolfazl Shekarchi told Tasnim News Agency on Saturday.

Trump says ‘major additional sanctions’ on Iran to come Monday

US President Donald Trump has said that “additional sanctions” against Iran are aimed at stopping the country from developing a nuclear bomb, but warned that military actions against Tehran remains on the table.
“We are putting major additional Sanctions on Iran on Monday,” Trump wrote on his Twitter on Saturday afternoon. He immediately added that he looks forward to the day when “sanctions come off Iran, and they become a productive and prosperous nation again.”
