Congratulations to Paul Larudee, who will receive the Lifetime Peacemaker Award and present the keynote speech at the 11th Annual Peace Awards Dinner hosted by the Rossmoor Friends of the Mt. Diablo Peace and Justice Center.
The International Solidarity Movement – Northern California thanks Paul for his years of tireless work to highlight and publicize the plight of the Palestinian people and their struggle for freedom, particularly his role in supporting non-violent, popular resistance, from Rachel Corrie to the freedom flotilla to Gaza to fundraising for the cameras that capture Israeli violations of Palestinian rights, such as the cameras in the Oscar-nominated film, “5 Broken Cameras.”
To honor this award, we are giving Paul a bottle of Palestinian olive oil. ISM NorCal’s sales of Palestinian olive oil are a project that Paul helped to launch as a means of support for Palestinian farmers on the ground.
The Awards Dinner will take place on Saturday, December 14 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, at the Diablo Room at Rossmoor in Walnut Creek. It will include a full-course dinner, silent auction and a live performance by Diablo Taiko. Youth vs. Apocalypse and Friends of Scott and Taun Hall will also receive Local Heroes for Peace Awards.
