China has been comprehensively and strictly carrying out the UN sanctions against North Korea to fulfill China’s international obligations, Gao Feng, spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM), said at a regular press conference on Thursday.
Gao said that relevant Chinese authorities have announced a ban on importing products such as coal, iron, gold, copper, lead and zinc from North Korea.
As a result, bilateral trade between the two countries has slowed sharply, Gao noted.
Trade between China and North Korea rose 3.7 percent year-on-year in the first nine months, which was down 27.7 percentage points compared with the first quarter, according to Gao.
China’s determination to implement the UN sanctions against North Korea should not be doubted, the spokesman said.
