UK sends troops, anti-tank weapons to Ukraine – Sky News

The United Kingdom has sent a group of around 30 elite troops and 2,000 anti-tank missile launchers to Ukraine amid fears of a new Russian invasion.

That’s according to Sky News, Ukrinform reports.

“The members of the Ranger Regiment – part of the army’s newly-formed Special Operations Brigade – flew out on military planes that also airlifted a total of some 2,000 anti-tank missile launchers to the country during the course of this week,” the media outlet said.

According to the report, a group of around 30 elite British troops arrived in Ukraine to help train the Ukrainian armed forces on new anti-tank weapons.

UK works on new union with Ukraine, Poland

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Kingdom Liz Truss reported on the development of relations with Ukraine and Poland in the context of countering the Russian threat. This was stated by Truss during a speech at the Lowy Institute on global threats to freedom, democracy and the rule of law, according to the press service of the British government.

“This week, the United Kingdom announced a new package of training, support and defensive weapons for Ukraine to boost their defensive capabilities. And we’re working with our partners on high impact measures targeting the Russian financial sector, and individuals. We’re also strengthening our bilateral partnership following high-level talks in London in December – and we’re fostering new trilateral ties with Poland and Ukraine,” Truss stated.

She added that together with her allies, Britain will continue to support Ukraine and calls on Russia to de-escalate. What is happening in Eastern Europe is important for the whole world, the minister stressed.

Moscow calls on UK’s Foreign Office to stop engaging in provocations – MFA

MOSCOW, January 23. /TASS/. Moscow has called on the UK’s Foreign Office to stop engaging in provocations. This is how the Russian Foreign Ministry reacted to a recent statement of the British colleagues about plans Moscow is allegedly making regarding Ukraine.

“The misinformation spread by the British Foreign Office is another evidence that these are the NATO countries, led by the Anglo-Saxons, that are escalating tensions around Ukraine. We call on the British Foreign Office to stop provocative activities, stop spreading nonsense and focus on studying the history of the Tatar-Mongol yoke,” a representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry told TASS.
