Several participants protested the speech of US Ambassador to the UN in Geneva Michele Taylor at the UN Human Rights Committee on Wednesday.
The protest took place while Taylor was concluding a two-day hearing on the US as part of the Committee’s periodic review on the country’s compliance with the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) in Geneva.
Some participants stood up and turned their backs during the speech, showing disapproval for the US government’s alleged lack of response to human rights concerns.
